Calypso bulbosa
One of Alberta's most delicate and beautiful native orchids — a single rose-pink pouched flower on a slender stem rising from one solitary leaf. Found in undisturbed mossy conifer forest floors. Depends on specific soil mycorrhizae and cannot be transplanted — wild-dug plants always die. Rare enough to be vulnerable; never pick.
