June Grass

Koeleria macrantha

A short bunch-forming cool-season grass (20–50 cm) of Alberta's mixed-grass prairie and foothills grasslands. Slender silvery-green seed heads emerge in June (hence the name). An important co-dominant with rough fescue and blue grama. Excellent for xeriscape and native lawn alternatives.
