Silene acaulis
One of Alberta's most iconic alpine cushion plants — forms dense silver-green moss-like mats studded in midsummer with hundreds of pink five-petaled flowers. Grows on exposed ridges and alpine tundra above 2000 m. Incredibly slow-growing: a 10 cm cushion may be 50 years old. Do not step on them.
