An Alberta-native rhizomatous grass of wet meadows and fens, with slender upright flower panicles on stems 50–100 cm tall. Not to be confused with the aggressive garden cultivar 'Karl Foerster' (Calamagrostis x acutiflora). Excellent for wet restoration plantings.
