One-sided Wintergreen

Orthilia secunda

A small evergreen perennial of Alberta's shady conifer forests. Named for the one-sided (secund) arrangement of small greenish-white bell-flowers along the top of the flower stalk. Shiny oval leaves form small rosettes. Typically found growing through moss carpets.
