Pink Wintergreen

Pyrola asarifolia

A shade-loving evergreen perennial of Alberta's moist boreal and foothill forests. Rosette of shiny round basal leaves and a stalk 20–35 cm tall bearing a spike of nodding pink bell-shaped flowers in midsummer. The most common of Alberta's several native wintergreens. Leaves persist through winter.
