Rusty Cliff Fern

Woodsia ilvensis

A small hardy fern of Alberta's exposed rocky outcrops and cliff faces — fronds 10–20 cm long with rust-coloured hairs and scales on the undersides (hence the name). Tolerates drought by curling fronds; unfurls again with rain. Excellent candidate for rock garden crevices.
