Twinflower

Linnaea borealis

A circumpolar trailing evergreen sub-shrub of Alberta's boreal and mountain forests — small rounded leaves on wiry stems, and paired nodding bell-flowers atop thread-thin stalks, releasing a sweet fragrance at night. Named for Linnaeus himself, who said it was his favourite plant. Forms delicate mossy carpets in undisturbed shade.
