Lonicera dioica
Alberta's only native vine-forming honeysuckle — twines counter-clockwise up shrubs and small trees in moist woods. Distinctive leaves on flowering stems fuse around the stem to form a disc (perfoliate) beneath the cluster of yellow-orange tubular flowers. Red berries ripen in late summer. Not to be confused with the invasive garden honeysuckles.
