Western Wood Lily
Lilium philadelphicum
mihko-waposakây(Cree)
Saskatchewan's floral emblem and one of the most vivid wildflowers of Alberta's parkland — brilliant orange-red upturned cups flecked with purple-black spots bloom briefly in summer. Slow-growing from bulbs; wild populations are declining due to picking and habitat loss. Admire in place — do not pick.
