Wild Strawberry
Fragaria virginiana
otehimin(Cree)
Tiny, intensely fragrant wild berries found throughout Alberta's meadows, forest edges, and clearings — arguably more flavourful than any cultivated strawberry. Leaves brew into a mild vitamin-C-rich tea. A parent species of the modern garden strawberry. Spreads readily via runners; excellent edible groundcover.
