Wood Horsetail

Equisetum sylvaticum

The most graceful of Alberta's native horsetails — lace-like whorls of delicate branched side branches on 30–60 cm stems create a feathery appearance. Found in moist boreal and foothills forests. Like all horsetails, a living fossil — the group is 300+ million years old.
