Anthurium

Anthurium andraeanum

Also called Flamingo Flower — a Colombian/Ecuadorian tropical with glossy dark heart-shaped leaves and showy, waxy red, pink, or white 'flowers.' The coloured 'petal' is actually a modified leaf (a spathe) wrapped around a slim spike (the spadix) that carries the true tiny flowers. Long-lasting blooms can persist 6–8 weeks. Needs high humidity to thrive.
