String of Pearls

String of Pearls

Senecio rowleyanus

A trailing succulent from southwest Africa, with slender stems strung with round pea-sized leaves that store water for drought. Stunning in hanging baskets. Overwatering is the #1 killer — shriveled 'pearls' mean too dry; mushy ones mean too wet. Small white cinnamon-scented flowers appear in summer with enough sun.
