Water Smartweed

Persicaria amphibia

A versatile native perennial with two growth forms: aquatic plants float with oval leaves on the water surface; terrestrial plants grow on wet mud with upright lance-shaped leaves. Both forms produce dense spikes of small bright-pink flowers. Important food plant for waterfowl and pollinators.
