Yellow Clematis

Clematis tangutica

⚠️ NOXIOUS — a woody vine from central Asia with bright yellow nodding bell-shaped flowers and feathery seed heads like its garden cousins. Still found in older Alberta gardens but now illegal to sell. Climbs and smothers native shrubs and trees along river valleys, especially in Calgary's Bow and Elbow valleys. Forms dense curtains that prevent regeneration.
